What it’s about
Elizabeth Leiston, daughter of the prime minister of Haldoria and heir to the throne, is publicly accused of conspiracy by her fiancé, the crown prince, during their engagement ceremony. She is arrested and imprisoned in a fortress, where she discovers an ancient archive containing seven grimoires, each tied to a different school of magic and requiring a personal oath. Renouncing her allegiance to the crown, she binds herself to all seven, gaining powers over infrastructure, contracts, supply chains, communications, weather, will, and fortifications. She escapes, destroys border outposts, and declares war on her own country.
