About the film

What it’s about

Two centuries ago, mermaid princess Lara drank a witch's potion to gain legs and pursue a human prince. The magic carried a harsh condition: if she failed to find true love, she would dissolve into sea foam. That fate befell her, but now she awakens in the waters of Lake Biwa, reborn as a human with one final chance. In this unfamiliar world, she meets Mari Otsu, a high-school student skilled in boxing, who becomes her guide to everyday life. Enrolled in a Japanese school, Lara must adapt to trains, supermarkets, and strict rules while her old longing for love resurfaces. When she encounters Luca, a boy who resembles her lost prince, the possibility of breaking the ancient curse comes into focus.

What hooks you

The series is inspired by 'The Little Mermaid'. It is directed by Yosuke Sato, Asuka Kozato, and Takushi Koide, with a screenplay by Anna Kawahara and music by Yumaguchi Yuma. The cast includes Hana Nishikawa as Lara and Nana Kawaishi as Mari Otsu.

Who it’s for

It suits viewers who enjoy gentle melodrama with a touch of fantasy, where a fairy-tale premise meets the comedy of adjusting to modern life. It will also appeal to those who like stories of second chances and slow-burning romance in a school setting.
