The film's title and its working title «Morning Bell» were borrowed from the titles of tracks on the album «Amnesiac» (2001) by the British rock band Radiohead.

Daniel Craig borrowed his character's manner of speech from the writer, historian and journalist Shelby Foote (1916-2005).

For the opening shots, two dogs were required to run from one trainer to another, but it was impossible to get them to run closer to the camera. In the end, a small ramp had to be built so that the dogs would not run right under the camera.

The board game played by Christopher Plummer's character and Ana de Armas's character is called Go. It is a strategic logic board game that originated in ancient China, by various estimates, between 2,000 and 5,000 years ago.
