In 1948, Jeju Island is engulfed by state violence as soldiers ruthlessly crush opposition to Korea's partition. A six-year-old girl, robbed of her voice, wanders the forests beneath Hallasan. Her mother, Ah-jin, searches for her through a treacherous landscape.

What hooks you

Kim Hyang-gi plays Ah-jin, and Kim Min-che plays Kang Hae-saeng. Ha Myeong-mi wrote the film and served as executive producer. It draws on the Jeju uprising, a historical moment of intense conflict.
