What it’s about

Mason, once with MI6, lives alone on a small Scottish island with his dog. A friend and the friend's niece Jessie bring supplies by boat. During a violent storm the boat capsizes; the friend drowns, Mason saves Jessie, but she badly injures her leg. Without medicine, Mason must go to the nearest mainland town. His appearance is noticed by MI6, and soon a special forces unit lands on the island where Mason and Jessie are.

What hooks you

Jason Statham plays Mason, a man pulled from hiding to shield a child. Director Ric Roman Waugh, who made 'Greenland', stages the action with a grounded feel. The production built real sets in Ireland, including a lighthouse on a secluded pebble beach in Wicklow, and filmed in Scotland and Spain. During preparation, Ireland was hit by its strongest storm in 60 years.

It is worth a look for anyone who likes tight, close-quarters action built on a lone protector, a vulnerable child, and the tension of a hidden past catching up.
