About the film
What it’s about
The Yamato, a nuclear submarine, embarks on a deep underwater voyage toward the United Nations headquarters in New York. Its route crosses the Bering Strait between the US and Russia, where an American nuclear submarine, overwhelmingly bigger, approaches. In the freezing Arctic Ocean, a battle begins among the cracking ice floes.

Takao Osawa plays Shirou Kaieda, with Aya Ueto as Hiromi Ichiya and Kenjiro Tsuda as Jun Otaki. The film is based on a manga and directed by Kohei Yoshino, with a screenplay by Hikaru Takai and Kaiji Kawaguchi.
