What it’s about

Anička Jesenská comes into her late uncle’s dental practice in Medov, a border town under Austro-Hungarian rule. The townspeople stick with another dentist who has teamed up with the schoolteacher and a sugar-candy manufacturer. Wanting to ease children’s suffering, Anička finds an exotic herb from Peru that makes procedures painless. With a group of local kids behind her, she takes on the established interests to bring better oral health to the town.
