  4. Filming began in February 2008 and ended on May 2 of the same year.

  5. When writing the book, Stephenie Meyer envisioned only Henry Cavill as Edward, but by the time the adaptation began, the actor had significantly outgrown his character. Tom Sturridge was also considered during casting, but ultimately Robert Pattinson played the lead role.

  7. 5,000 actors were auditioned for the role of the vampire Edward. The four finalists were Robert Pattinson, Jackson Rathbone, Ben Barnes, and Shiloh Fernandez. The choice fell on Robert Pattinson, and Rathbone ultimately played Jasper.

  8. For the role of Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson flew from England to director Catherine Hardwicke's house for an audition. There he and Kristen Stewart, who had already been cast as Bella Swan, rehearsed the "Love Scene" / "Meadow Scene" on Catherine Hardwicke's own bed.
