I'm Not Stiller

What it’s about

James Larkin White is detained on arrival in Zurich and identified as Anatol Stiller, a Swiss sculptor who vanished seven years earlier and is wanted in connection with the 'Smyrnov affair'. His wife, friends, and a former lover are convinced White is Stiller. White denies any connection, but the authorities and those close to the missing man press him to admit the identity. He faces a gruelling fight to establish his own name against a system that sees only the resemblance.

What hooks you

Stefan Haupt directs Albrecht Schuch as the man caught between two identities and Paula Beer as the wife who believes her husband has returned. The film draws on Max Frisch's novel and was made in Germany and Switzerland, bringing a taut psychological conflict to the screen.

Who it’s for

It will appeal to those who like dramas built on questions of identity and memory, where a single uncertainty drives the tension and every conversation becomes a test of truth.
