About the film

What it’s about

Angela, expecting a child, travels with her husband Henry from Ottawa to the northern Cree community of KiiWeeTin to visit Mary, the woman who cared for her as a girl. Soon after arriving, Angela is confronted by a threatening shadow figure. Mary turns to forbidden Cree ceremonies and medicine to bless and shield Angela and her unborn baby. As Angela uncovers her own heritage and learns who the shadow is, she must embrace spiritual practices she has only just encountered to defend herself against Henry’s growing obsession with racial purity.
