Ridley Scott announced on November 27, 2015 that the film «Alien: Covenant» would become the first part of a new «Alien» trilogy, and that plot-wise this trilogy would be closer to the first film «Alien» (1979).

The film's title was changed from «Alien: Paradise Lost» to «Alien: Covenant».

Some scenes were filmed in Sydney, Australia, at Fox Studios.

Rebecca Ferguson was originally considered for the lead role, but Katherine Waterston was ultimately cast.

The androids David and Walter were named after producers David Giler and Walter Hill.
