About the film

What it’s about

Wendy manages a construction site in Alaska and lives with Jack, a divorced father of two. She has no plans to start a family, but Jack senses she once had other dreams and suggests a temporary separation so she can sort herself out. When her former boyfriend Chuck reappears, the experiment slips beyond anyone's control, and all three must confront what they actually want.

What hooks you

Dakota Fanning and Jake Johnson produce, with Joe Swanberg directing from his own screenplay. The setup of a well-intentioned break that goes wrong gives the cast room for quiet, uneasy scenes.

Who it’s for

It is worth a look for anyone who likes relationship dramas where good intentions curdle and the landscape mirrors the characters' uncertainty.
