What it’s about

Saga and her husband Jon move to her grandmother's old house deep in a Finnish forest. After their long-awaited baby is born, Saga's joy curdles into fear: the child is unusually hairy, never smiles, and shuns sunlight. While everyone else sees a normal boy, Saga sees something wrong and cannot feel maternal love.

Seidi Haarla plays the isolated mother, with Rupert Grint as her oblivious husband. Bergholm's film was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival. Its folk-horror and body-horror elements promise a disturbing take on motherhood.
