About the film

It's just a game...

What it’s about

In 1987, 36-year-old Conor Marsh lives alone with his dog Sandy, leaving the house only for walks and errands. Intrigued by a new computer game called OBEX, he sends its creators a video about himself. Soon after, Sandy disappears, and Conor's search leads him into the game itself, where the real and the virtual begin to merge.

What hooks you

Albert Birney directs and stars as Conor, with Callie Hernandez as Mary. The film's surreal blend of horror and science fiction, set in 1980s Baltimore, draws on a distinctive computer-game aesthetic.

Who it’s for

It is worth a look for anyone who enjoys eerie, surreal stories where technology warps reality, and for those drawn to 1980s nostalgia and the unsettling logic of old computer games.
