About the film
What it’s about
Ying Nuo lost her mother years ago and grew apart from her father. Now she comes back to her hometown with her five-year-old daughter, Diu Diu, hoping to leave the child with him while she goes abroad for a competition. He refuses, so she has no choice but to stay. Living under the same roof again, they circle each other with old wounds and unspoken worries. The warmth of the neighbourhood only deepens the sense that each of them is hiding something.
What hooks you
Gillian Chung plays Ying Nuo, and Lin Dongfu appears as Ying Dahai. The film was directed by Zhang Chi, with Kunlin Wang as co-director.
Who it’s for
It is a good pick for those who like intimate family dramas where grief and reconciliation unfold slowly, and for viewers drawn to stories about care at the end of life.
