About the film
Trained for glory, called to war.
What it’s about
In 1945, as the war in the Pacific nears its climax, four former college football standouts who joined the US Marines after Pearl Harbor prepare for the assault on Okinawa. With other servicemen, they get a chance to play one more match, bringing together some of the strongest football players of their generation. The game takes place just before they ship out to the front, and many participants do not know it will be their final time on a field.
