What it’s about

In the Washington town of Sowell Bay, Tova Sullivan has lost both her son years ago and, more recently, her husband. She works nights as a cleaner at the local aquarium, where she gradually befriends Marcellus, a giant octopus who longs to escape back to the ocean. When Tova injures her ankle, a young man named Cameron arrives in town, searching for his father after his mother's death. He takes a temporary job at the aquarium to cover for Tova, but she keeps returning to see the octopus. Marcellus notices that Tova and Cameron share a deep sense of loss and a desire for freedom.
