What it’s about

An international flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai is forced to make an emergency landing in the ocean. The passengers who survive the crash find themselves trapped in a sinking plane, surrounded by sharks drawn to the wreckage. To have any chance of escape, they must overcome their differences and work together, but fear and panic threaten to tear them apart.

Renny Harlin, director of the shark thriller "Deep Blue Sea," returns to deep-sea horror. The project was originally announced as a sequel to a 2014 shark film, but after real-world events made the plot too close to a real tragedy, the script was reworked into a standalone story.
