What it’s about
Andy Sachs, once assistant to Runway editor Miranda Priestly, loses her journalism job when her department is cut. She accepts an offer to return to Runway, where Miranda is fighting to keep the magazine alive amid the decline of print media. Their former colleague Emily Charlton, now head of a luxury brand, holds funding that could save Runway, but she has her own agenda.

- Meryl Streep personally called Lady Gaga and asked her to play a cameo role.
- Originally Andy had a roommate, played by Conrad Ricamora, but the character was cut after test screenings because audiences began to wonder why Andy even needed a roommate.
- In the fast-food restaurant hangs a painting depicting Miranda as a waitress. Director David Frankel commissioned the painting from artist Alexis Franklin on the condition that the result should resemble the work of a neural network.
- The filmmakers were not allowed to close the shopping arcade in Milan for filming, so to avoid crowds of onlookers they filmed there at half past three in the morning with only Meryl Streep. Since the city residents already knew about the filming, the filmmakers tried to limit themselves to one take, and filmed the entire scene on the day of departure.
