About the film
Let them try.
What it’s about
A woman takes a housekeeping job in a mysterious Manhattan high-rise. The building's residents may be a Satanic cult, and she is unaware of the danger as she begins work.
What hooks you
Kirill Sokolov, director of 'Otryv i vybros', makes his Hollywood debut. Zazie Beetz stars as Asia Reaves, with Myha'la as her sister Maria. The premise echoes Sokolov's own joke with his wife that their high-rise might be a cult headquarters, and he found similarities to 'Rosemary's Baby'. Beetz, in her first lead role, endured cold artificial rain during filming, while Tom Felton played ukulele and sang funny songs to cheer her up after difficult days.
Who it’s for
It suits viewers who like horror with a darkly comic edge, where a resourceful protagonist turns the tables on her attackers. It will also appeal to those who enjoy cult conspiracies and survival stories set in claustrophobic urban spaces.

All 10Trivia
- The film's title translates as «They Will Kill You».
- Working on the film was hard on all the actors involved in the project, but especially on Zazie Beetz (she played Aisha Reeves), who was starring in a leading role for the first time. Tom Felton, who played Kevin, brought a ukulele to the set and, to cheer Beetz up after a difficult shooting day, sang her joking songs.
- While working on the project, director and screenwriter Kirill Sokolov drew inspiration from his own past: he and his wife moved to another city and settled in a residential high-rise with hundreds of apartments. They joked to each other: "What if this is the headquarters of some sect?" Later he watched Roman Polanski's horror film Rosemary's Baby (1968) and found a certain similarity between the plot and his own situation.
- The most difficult part for Zazie Beetz, who played the main character, was filming the scenes in the rain. The rain was artificial, but the water was cold (warm water would fog up the camera lenses), so the actress suffered from the cold.
