Biography

Aidan Gillen

Born on April 24, 1968 in the Drumcondra area of Dublin, Ireland.

He attended St. Vincent's C.B.S. in Glasnevin. In 2001 he married Olivia O'Flanagan, whom he had known since his teenage years. In 2013 the couple separated and now live apart in Ireland. It is still unknown whether they are officially divorced. Aidan and Olivia have two children - a daughter, Berry (born in 1997), and Joe (born in 2000). In 2009, when Gillen was awarded an Irish Film and Television Award for his role in the television series The Wire, he dedicated the win to Olivia and his children. He is currently dating the Irish singer Camille O'Sullivan. In one interview he corrected a journalist who called Camille his fiancée - "she is not my fiancée, she is my partner."

He began his acting career at the age of 16, still in Dublin (Dublin Youth Theatre), with the role of Bottom the weaver in Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. He later moved to London.
