Born into the family of actress Özlem Akınözü. His mother dreamed of an acting career for her son, but Akın preferred the exact sciences and after graduating from high school entered the mathematics faculty of TED College. He then moved to the United States, where he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. It was overseas that he became interested in theater and began taking acting lessons. He studied at the CRAFT acting courses (CRAFT Oyunculuk Atölyesi).
