Akinola Ogunmade-Davies Jr. is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, screenwriter and video artist.

His work sits between West Africa and the United Kingdom, as he identifies as part of a global diaspora existing on the border of belonging to both worlds. Akinola seeks to carefully explore the clash of colonial and imperial traditions, advocating for a return to indigenous narratives.

He explores themes of community, race, spirituality, identity and gender, telling stories that bridge the gap between traditional and millennial communities. These themes carry a duality: necessity and urgency in relation to the medium of storytelling itself.

Great emphasis is placed on the need for clear intent in concepts and a willingness to experiment with form: preparation and meticulous research for his films play a central role and are critically important to the creation of his images. He draws on aspects of collective and individual memory and lived experience.
