Amitabh Bachchan (born 11 October 1942) is an Indian actor, playback singer and producer who works primarily in Hindi-language cinema. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest, most distinguished and commercially successful actors in the history of Indian cinema; he has appeared in more than 200 films. Bachchan has been called the "Angry Young Man", the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Sadi ke Mahanaayak (which literally means "superstar of the century"), the Millennium Star of Bollywood, or simply Big B.

His dominance of the Indian film industry in the 1970s and 1980s led French director François Truffaut to call him "a one-man industry". He has received numerous awards, including seven National Film Awards, seventeen Filmfare Awards and one South Filmfare Award.
