Boy George (born George Alan O'Dowd) is a cult English singer, songwriter and DJ who rose to global fame in the 1980s as the charismatic and flamboyant frontman of the pop-soul group Culture Club. Known for his soulful baritone and pioneering androgynous style of dress, he helped define the New Romantic movement and led the second British invasion of the American charts with such massive international hits as "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Karma Chameleon." Beyond his incredible musical success with Culture Club, which earned him a Grammy Award and cemented his status as a pop culture legend, he built a enduring solo career, wrote bestselling memoirs, composed music for the stage (including the Broadway musical Taboo) and became a prominent figure as a DJ and television presenter, notably as a coach on The Voice UK and The Voice Australia, as well as touring worldwide.
