Brendan Canty has carved out a path as one of Ireland's most exciting and prolific directors. His early career was marked by major success with the music video for Hozier's "Take Me to Church" (which has since amassed over a billion views on YouTube and received two MTV VMA nominations). Since then, Brendan has directed consistently elegant and visually stunning music videos for leading international artists (Dermot Kennedy, Talos), as well as commercials for brands such as Adidas, Sky Sports, and Fáilte Ireland. In 2017, Brendan directed the film "For You" (starring Barry Keoghan), which won the Kinsale Shark award and was nominated for an IFTA.

In 2019, Brendan directed his second short film, "Christy," which he then developed into his feature debut with BBC Film and Screen Ireland; its world premiere took place at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival. He has recently received numerous awards for his latest short film, "Atali'i O Le Crezent (Sons of the Crezent)," including the audience award and the award for best directing at Show Me Shorts.
