Dora Romano was born near Naples (Italy) and graduated in sociology (1979). In 1980 she received a diploma from the Bottega Teatrale di Firenze, Vittorio Gassman's acting school. She works and performs in English as well as Italian. She trained in theatrical plays by Jerzy Grotowski, Elizabeth Kemp, Dominique De Fazio, and Ivana Chubbuck, in Italy and the United States. Her first professional experience was under the direction of Otomar Krejča in Aeschylus's "The Suppliants" at the Greek Theatre of Syracuse, and then for the next two years she was part of Eduardo De Filippo's company. Dora worked with various Italian directors in classic comedies written by Goldoni, Molière, Euripides, Plautus, G. D'Annunzio, and J.

Anouilh. In 1991 she met Ermanno Olmi, who cast her as Mrs. Gibbs in T. Wilder's "Our Town." Over the course of her career she also impressed audiences in various Shakespearean comedies, such as: "Macbeth," "King Lear," "The Taming of the Shrew" (BBC television). Other credits include Martha in W. Goethe's "Doctor Faustus," directed by Glauco Mauri, and the role of Mrs. Sarti in B. Brecht's "The Life of Galileo." Dora is also a passionate and talented singer, and has performed in the following musicals: "Cuore Ingrato," a musical monologue, "She Loves Me" (2000), "Gianburrasca" (2004), "Sister Act" (2011, Mother Superior), "Titanic" (2012), "Il Marchese del Grillo" (The Marquis of the Cricket), and "Mary Poppins."
