Gareth Hugh Evans (born 6 April 1980) is a Welsh film director, screenwriter, editor and fight choreographer. He is best known for the Indonesian crime action films Merantau (2009), The Raid (2011) and The Raid 2 (2014), as well as for introducing the world to the Indonesian martial art pencak silat through these films. He is also known as co-creator, co-writer, co-director and executive producer of the Sky Atlantic/AMC crime action drama London Gangsters (2020 – present) alongside Matt Flannery, based on the 2006 video game of the same name.
