Biography

Jared Padalecki was born on July 19, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas, USA, to Gerald Padalecki, a tax accountant, and Sheron Kammer, a teacher. Padalecki has Polish roots on his father's side and German, English, French, and Scottish roots on his mother's side. He has an older brother, Jeffrey, a surgeon, and a younger sister, Megan. At the age of 12, Jared began taking acting lessons. He attended James Madison High School in San Antonio.

In 1999, Padalecki won the "Claim to Fame" contest, which gave him the opportunity to present an award at the Teen Choice Awards, where he met his current agent. After graduating from high school in 2000, Jared moved to Los Angeles, California, to continue his acting career, although he had originally planned to attend the University of Texas.
