Jeremy Charles Robert Clarkson (born 11 April 1960, Doncaster, Yorkshire, United Kingdom) is an English television presenter, journalist specialising in motoring, and farmer. He is widely known as the host of the television shows Top Gear, which won an Emmy Award in 2005, The Grand Tour and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. He is the author of weekly columns for The Sunday Times and The Sun. Together with James May, he was the first to reach the Earth's North Magnetic Pole by car, which featured in one episode of Top Gear.

Clarkson began his journalistic career writing articles for several regional British newspapers, and gained wide fame when he became the host of the original Top Gear in 1988. Since the mid-1990s he has appeared regularly on British television with his own shows or as a guest. Besides motoring, Clarkson has produced programmes and books on subjects such as history and technology. From 1998 to 2000 he hosted his own talk show.

His actions, both privately and as host of Top Gear, have sometimes led to serious criticism from the media, politicians and the public. In one interview he said that his life follows the pattern: "Eat, sleep, write, repeat." Despite the criticism directed at Clarkson, he is called the main inspiration behind the revival of Top Gear as the most popular show on the BBC.

In 2007 Clarkson received a National Television Award. According to The Independent, in that same year he earned 1.7 million pounds from sales of his books and DVDs, as well as from writing newspaper columns; his annual earnings at Top Gear were estimated at 1 million pounds.
