Karla Sofía Gascón (born March 31, 1972) is a Spanish actress and recipient of numerous awards. She has appeared in several telenovelas and films, including El Señor de los Cielos, Noble Family, and Emilia Pérez. For her breakthrough role in Emilia Pérez, she received numerous awards, including the Best Actress prize at the Cannes International Film Festival, the Best International Actress prize at the Venice Film Festival, as well as nominations for a BAFTA, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Critics' Choice Award, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar, becoming the first openly transgender actress to receive such nominations.
