   Kristoffer Joner is the nephew of Norwegian actor Johannes Joner, the nephew of musician and composer Sverre Indris Joner, and also the cousin of actor Knut Joner.

   Joner is asthmatic, so as a child, by his own account, he "rather sat in the cinema watching endless films than played football." At the same time, although he managed to overcome the alcohol addiction he once suffered from, the actor remains a heavy smoker. By Joner's own admission, he smokes up to 50 cigarettes a day and is unable to sit through a cinema screening from start to finish, since for him it is too long a stretch without a cigarette.

   From 2001 to 2010, the actor was in a common-law marriage with Yine Teresa Grønner. Yoner and Grønner met in 2001 on the set of the film "Falling Sky," where Yoner played one of the lead roles and Grønner worked as an assistant director. In 2004, the couple had a daughter, Tea.

   In his youth, Yoner was the vocalist of the band Single Satellites, which he formed with friends in Stavanger. They played music in the style of The Smiths and released the album "Single Satellites Open for Love."

   The actor's parents divorced when he was still a child, and Yoner and his younger brother stayed to live with their mother. Their father, the artist Ole Karlsen, died when Yoner was a teenager.
