Lydia Kandou is an Indonesian actress and model. Her feature film debut was in Has Manan's "Wanita Segala Zaman" (1979), when she was 16 years old. Over the next five years, she appeared in more than 20 films and was nominated for her first Citra Award for Best Actress at the 1984 Indonesian Film Festival. Between 1985 and 1990, she appeared in 10 films and received two more Citra Award nominations for those roles. In 1990, Kandou won the lead role in Nyak Abbas Akup's "Boneka dari Indiana," which brought her her first Citra Award win. The following year, she starred in "Ramadhan dan Ramona," which led to another win.

When the Indonesian film industry went into decline in the early 1990s, Kandou moved to television. Beginning in 1993, she was a regular on the show "Gara-Gara"; in 1997, she left the show to join "Selendang Sutra Biru." She appeared in the popular television series "Pernikahan Dini" in 2001, playing Shinta, the mother of the main character Dini. Kandou returned to feature films in 2004, when she appeared in "d'Trex" and "Ketika." In 2011, she starred in the comedy "Kejarlah Jodoh Kau Kutangkap," which referenced her earlier work.
