In 2007, Miles Teller was in an accident. Miles and two of his friends were driving back to Florida from a music festival (which was held in Connecticut). The driver lost control of the car at speed. The car flipped 7 times. Miles was thrown 8 meters. His wrist was broken, 30 staples were put in his shoulder, and 2 plates in his head.

His paternal grandfather was Jewish, an immigrant from Russia. Miles's ancestry also includes English, Irish, Polish, and African roots.
