Biography
Aleksey Sergeyevich Gorbunov is a Soviet and Ukrainian theatre and film actor. People's Artist of Ukraine (2016). Aleksey Sergeyevich Gorbunov was born on 29 October 1961 in Kyiv. In 1984 he graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Theatre Arts named after I. K. Karpenko-Kary. He worked as an actor at M. Nestantiner's Chamber Theatre and at the Lesya Ukrainka Russian Drama Theatre. From 1984 Aleksey Gorbunov was accepted into the Film Actor Theatre-Studio of the A. Dovzhenko Film Studio. His first film roles were also connected with this same studio. He made his debut in the lead role in Vladimir Popkov's adventure film "Cargo Without Markings". Already after the actor's first work it became clear that an interesting, unconventional actor had come to cinema. Then followed work in the films: "Approaching the Future", "The Spy", "The New Adventures of a Yankee at the Court of King Arthur" and others. Aleksey Gorbunov acted especially a great deal in the first half of the 1990s. In fairness, it should be noted here that most of the films did not arouse particular audience interest. The exception, perhaps, were only the war drama "Two Steps to Silence" and the action film "The Party's Gold". But the role of the jester Chicot in Vladimir Popkov's historical television series "The Countess de Monsoreau" (1997) was a truly great success, fully demonstrating the actor's talent.
At present Aleksey Gorbunov is again in demand in domestic cinema. Between 2001 and 2004 he played more than a dozen roles in various films and series, among them: Captain Rybakov in the series "The Werewolf's Trail", the psychoanalyst doctor in the film "Carmen", Viktor Savitsky in the series "The Best City on Earth", Giring in the series "The Red Chapel". In 2007 the actor played one of the jurors in Nikita Mikhalkov's film "12", which won the Golden Lion prize at the Venice Film Festival. In 2018 he appeared as the FSB officer Karlov in season 4 of the French television series "The Bureau". Besides his work in cinema, Aleksey Gorbunov leads a very busy life. He has performed as a soloist with the group "Sadness Without Markings" and works as a DJ on Kyiv radio stations (Radio Nostalgie and others). In addition, Aleksey Gorbunov is the organizer and host of two discos, "Dzhankoy" and "Jumanji" (Kyiv). Some time ago he hosted the programme "Night Alarm Clock" on Ukrainian TV. In 2017 he appeared as Kazimir Kazimirovich in the youth project "OPTIMUS GANG". He hosted the programmes "Night Alarm Clock" (1998) and "Miracle People" (2008) on Ukrainian TV. He worked as a presenter on the Kyiv radio stations "Kontinent" and "Nostalgie". Since June 2018 he has hosted an author's programme on "Pershyi Miskyi Radio 102.7 FM" in Odesa.
