Rachel Griffiths

Australian actress and director. Her breakthrough came with her role in the film Muriel's Wedding (1994), which earned her an AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actress. Griffiths is widely known for her roles as Brenda Chenowith in the television series Six Feet Under (2001–2005) and as Sarah Walker in the television series Brothers & Sisters (2006–2011).

Her work in film and television has brought Griffiths numerous awards and nominations, including an Academy Award nomination in 1999, a Golden Globe win in 2002 and nominations in 2003, 2008 and 2009, as well as two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She also received four Emmy Award nominations in 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2008. In addition, she won three Australian Film Critics Awards, in 1994, 2006 and 2009.

Griffiths and Toni Collette were relatively unknown when they received the lead roles in the 1994 film Muriel's Wedding. Griffiths's work in the film received many positive reviews from critics and also earned her the Australian Film Critics Award. In 1997 she appeared in the film My Best Friend's Wedding. That same year she played the lead role in the British film My Son the Fanatic.
