Biography
Hong Kong actor, artist, producer and director, known for his work in many kung fu films and Hong Kong cinema. He was a choreographer for, among others, Jackie Chan, King Hu and John Woo. Hung is one of the most important figures leading the movement in Hong Kong in the 1980s, helped recreate the martial arts genre and start the jiangshi genre. He received wide recognition for helping many of his compatriots, giving them a start in the Hong Kong film industry, bringing them into films he produced, or giving them a role in the production team.
In East Asia, as a sign of familiarity and respect, people commonly address their elders or influential people with family nouns. For example, Jackie Chan is often referred to as "Dai go", which means big brother. Hung was also known as "dai go", until the project A was filmed, in which both actors were shown. Since Hung was the eldest of the kung fu "brothers", and the first to make a mark in the industry, he was given the nickname "Dai go Dai", meaning big, big brother or big elder brother.
