Shazad Latif is a British actor. He is a nominee for the IGN Award and the SFC Award. Latif was born in London. At birth he was given the name Iqbal Amin. He grew up in the Tufnell Park area of north London. He has Pakistani, English and Scottish roots. Latif's father is from Pakistan. He studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He appeared in such theatre productions as "King Lear" (as the Duke of Cornwall) and "The School for Scandal" (as Joseph Surface). He left school a year early, as soon as he got a role in the series "Spooks". After "Spooks", the actor appeared in the cult series "Black Mirror" (the episode "The National Anthem"), and afterwards in such projects as "Toast of London", "Hotel Marigold. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" and "The Man Who Knew Infinity". In 2016 he joined the cast of the fantasy series "Penny Dreadful" as Dr.

Jekyll (and Mr. Hyde), and a year later he joined the cast of the science fiction series "Star Trek: Discovery" as Lieutenant Ash Tyler. In 2018, the premiere of Timur Bekmambetov's thriller "Profile" took place at the Berlin International Film Festival, in which Latif played one of the lead roles. The film won the Panorama Audience Award. That same year, the thriller "The Commuter" with Liam Neeson was released, in which Latif played Vince. In November 2021, information appeared in the media that Shazad Latif would play Captain Nemo in the upcoming Disney series "Nautilus". Earlier that same year, Latif could be seen on BBC One in the miniseries "The Pursuit of Love" with Lily James. Emma Thompson also starred in the film.
