Biography

Shriya Saran (born Shriya Saran Bhatnagar; 11 September 1982) is an Indian actress and model who works predominantly in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi cinema, as well as in international and Malayalam projects. She trained in Kathak; before starting her acting career, she appeared in the music video "Thirakti Kyun Hawa" directed by Renu Nath.

She made her film debut in the Telugu romantic film "Ishtam" (2001), then appeared in "Santosham" (2002) and "Nuvve Nuvve" (2002). Among her subsequent films are "Tagore" (2003) by V. V. Vinayak, "Nenunnanu" (2004), S. S. Rajamouli's action film "Chatrapathi" (2005) and Shankar's Tamil film "Sivaji: The Boss" (2007). Her Hindi debut in a leading role came in Mohit Suri's crime drama "Awarapan" (2007), and she also appeared in Susi Ganeshan's superhero film "Kanthaswamy" (2009). Her English-language works include "The Other End of the Line" (2008) by James Dodson and the adaptation of Salman Rushdie's novel "Midnight's Children" (2012) by Deepa Mehta. She also appeared in Vikram K. Kumar's film "Manam" (2014) and Krish Jagarlamudi's historical film "Gautamiputra Satakarni" (2017).

She played Nandini Salgaonkar in Nishikant Kamat's crime thriller "Drishya" (2015) and its sequel "Drishya 2" (2022), both times alongside Ajay Devgn. She played Sarojini in S. S. Rajamouli's film "RRR" (2022), appeared in the multilingual historical action film "Kabzaa" (2023) and played Mandira Mathur in Mihir Desai's drama series "Showtime" (2024). Among her later works are Karthik Ghattamaneni's Telugu fantasy adventure film "Mirai" (2025), Karthik Subbaraj's "Retro" (2025) and the space drama series "Space Generation: Chandrayaan" (2026).
