   Her parents divorced in 1981. Her mother, Taryn's mother Sharin, worked as a secretary and waitress to support her daughter and her older brother Kellin. Her father, Bill Manning, was a musician and worked as a hotel manager.

   When Taryn was 14, her troubled father committed suicide. Taryn said her dad drank a lot and cheated a lot. Her childhood was a very difficult period of her life, but Manning still considers it happy. After her parents' divorce, she moved with her mother to Los Alamitos, California, where she began attending Orange County High School of the Arts.
