Tim Burton

American film director, producer, animator and writer. Creator of modern spectacular cinema, often based on black humor and macabre elements.

Tim Burton was born in 1958 in the city of Burbank, California, USA, into the family of Bill and Jean Burton (Erickson), owners of a small souvenir shop called Cats Plus, which sold cat-themed items. Sometimes in information for the director's books, Burton's year of birth is given as 1960. This information is erroneous; Burton has repeatedly apologized for this oversight. Tim Burton was the first child in the family. The future director's father held a position in the Burbank park department. The Burton house on Evergreen Street still survives. It is located not far from Burbank Airport and Valhalla Cemetery. Later Burton would reflect his vision of his hometown in the film Edward Scissorhands.

A specific trait of the director is the appearance of small dogs in most of his films. Burton himself, during the period of his close relationship with Lisa Marie, had two chihuahuas. During the divorce, one of the dogs died. The second remained with Marie.
