Biography
Timur Nuruakhitovich Bekmambetov is a Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, producer, and music video director. Founder and president of the International Action Film Festival "Astana". At the insistence of his father, an energy engineer, he enrolled at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, but did not finish his studies, having become interested in art.
He served in the army near Ashgabat in the artillery troops. After his service, in 1982 he moved to Tashkent, where he worked as an artist for the Ilkhom Theater and at the Uzbekfilm film studio.
