Biography
Valentin Iosifovich Gaft was a Honored Artist of the RSFSR (2 February 1978) and People's Artist of the RSFSR (22 June 1984). He graduated from the School-Studio at the Moscow Art Theatre (1957), in V. O. Toporkov's class. The actor made his stage debut at the Mossovet Theatre in 1957. However, creative dissatisfaction with the aesthetic principles of the Mossovet Theatre of that time and a keen sense of the contemporary prompted the actor to leave a stable company and set out in search of "his" director: the Satire Theatre, the Theatre on Malaya Bronnaya, the Lenin Komsomol Theatre.
