Biography

Victor Rasuk (born January 15, 1984) is an American actor. Rasuk was born in Harlem, New York, to a Dominican family. He has a brother, Silvestre, with whom he appeared in the film Raising Victor Vargas. Rasuk attended a performing arts school as a teenager and began acting at the age of 14. He got his first film role at 16 in the film Five Feet High and Rising. The film — less than 30 minutes long — became a hit at the Independent Spirit Awards. Two years later, the same director, Peter Sollett, suggested expanding the short into a feature film: Raising Victor Vargas, which earned Rasuk an Independent Spirit Award for his work. In the next film, Rock Steady, Rasuk played a character named Rock. Two years later, he got the lead role in the film Haven with Orlando Bloom. In 2005, the film Lords of Dogtown was released, in which Victor played Tony Alva, one of the main roles. The role involved surfing and performing skateboarding stunts. Although more complex maneuvers were performed by stunt doubles (including scenes of surfing at the Pacific Ocean Park pier and skateboarding in empty pools), Rasuk is a method actor and worked to stay in character both on and off the set. Believing he had mastered riding a huge ramp in only his second week of training, Rasuk broke one of his orbital bones. Rasuk says this accident probably earned him more respect from the serious skateboarders among the cast and crew. Victor can now be seen in the HBO television series How to Make It in America (2010), where he appears alongside Bryan Greenberg and rapper Kid Cudi. Marjorie Ballentine is his acting teacher.
