In 1941-1942 he worked as an apprentice electric motor winder at the Moscow Electromechanical Workshops, then as an apprentice turner at the Automobile Repair Plant. In 1942-1947 he was a metal turner at Plant No. 5. In 1952 he graduated from VGIK and until 1986 worked at the Film Actor Theater-Studio and at Mosfilm.

A leading performer of episodic roles in films of the 1960s-1970s. From 1995 until his last days he lived in the House of Cinema Veterans together with his wife Tamara Vasilyevna. He is buried at the Khovanskoye Cemetery in Moscow.
