Chinese actress Yang Mi was born in Beijing on September 12, 1986, into a police officer's family. At the age of 4 she began taking acting classes and played her first role in a TV series, and at 6 in a film. After school, Yang Mi entered the Beijing Film Academy and returned to the screen.

After gaining recognition as an actress, she also released a solo music album. She founded her own studio, which now works with many popular artists. She has also repeatedly held positions in the China Film Association.
