Biography

Yuriko Yoshitaka is a Japanese actress represented by the Japanese agency Amuse. Yoshitaka debuted in 2006. In 2007, she got the lead role in the film adaptation of Hitomi Kanehara's award-winning novel "Snakes and Earrings." Playing the role of Lui, a teenager whose life goes off the rails after meeting the split-tongued and tattooed Ama, this role became a breakthrough for Yoshitaka. The Japanese public began to take notice of her, and in a poll conducted by Oricon, Yoshitaka ranked fifth among promising young actresses of 2009 and became the freshest female celebrity of 2009. In 2010, Oricon again conducted a poll about the most promising actress, and she was able to rise to first place.

In 2008, Yoshitaka began to get more work: she appeared in Flow's music video "Arigatō" (ありがとう, "Thank You"), got her first lead role in the comedy drama "Konno-san to Asobo" (紺野さんと遊ぼう, "Let's Play with Konno-san"), and took on the lead role in the film "Yūbae Shōjo" (夕映え少女, "Girl at Sunset") before the theatrical release of her other lead film "Snakes and Earrings." In 2009, Yoshitaka got the role of the suicide-prone Kairi Hayakawa in the romantic comedy drama "Love Shuffle." Later that same year, she played Yuki Matsunaga (松永 由岐, Matsunaga Yuki) in the police drama "Tokyo Dogs" with Shun Oguri and Hiro Mizushima as her co-stars.
