Christina Ricci (who played the grown-up Misty) was pregnant during the filming of the first season. By the time filming ended, she was already 8 months pregnant.

The pilot episode was shot closer to the end of 2019. The season as a whole was shot almost 2 years later — in the summer of 2021.

Sophie Nélisse, who played young Shauna, dyed her hair brown and wore brown contact lenses to match the hair and eyes of Melanie Lynskey, who played adult Shauna.
