About the series
What it’s about
Flora drives a trolleybus and keeps her three sons close: Yura, Ruslan, and Pyotr. In 1995 Russia, the brothers seem ready to die for one another, but each finds new friends and secrets as the hunger for fast cash spreads. Underground clubs open, courtyard fights turn deadly, and the family's unity cracks against a backdrop of decaying cultural centres and closing factories.
What hooks you
Sergey Taramaev and Lyubov Lvova wrote and directed this two-season, sixteen-episode crime drama. Viktoriya Isakova plays Flora, a role the filmmakers searched long for before seeing her on stage at the Pushkin Theatre. Slava Kopeykin's Pyotr was partly inspired by the Joker, and Lev Zulkarnaev performs poems he wrote himself. The series earned a Nika nomination for best series.
Who it’s for
It is worth a look for anyone who likes family sagas set against social collapse, where loyalty is tested by greed and violence.
