Stories from the set

The series was filmed in Yaroslavl.

A hockey rink was built specifically for the filming. Yaroslavl officials asked for it to be gifted to the city and not dismantled after filming, but the series team did not accommodate the local administration.

The series, despite the similarity of its title, is not an adaptation of the book "The Word of a Boy. Criminal Tatarstan of the 1970s-2010s." However, its author, Robert Garaev, was familiar with the project and took part in it as a consultant.

After the release of the third episode, director Zhora Kryzhovnikov decided to reshoot the eighth in order to change the ending.
